Hi Morten,
Thanks for joining the mailing list.
As the ZOO-Project package was created right before FOSS4G-Boston in
August (and announced during the ZOO-Project workshop), a proper
announcement was not done here for the MS4W users, so let's use this as
the kick-off message.
As you mentioned, a ZOO-Project (http://www.zoo-project.org/) package is
now available at http://ms4w.com/download.html For other readers,
adding ZOO-Project into MS4W now means that you have the powers of the
Web Processing Service (WPS) standard available to you; allowing you to
chain services in many different languages and tools, all done through a
known standard; a good start is reading the Introduction at
http://zoo-project.org/docs/intro.html Once you extract the ZOO-Project
package and restart Apache, your MS4W homepage will list some
"ZOO-Project WPS Example Services" to play with.
Currently the ZOO-Project package for MS4W supports:
- PHP 5.6 services, as PHP support was compiled into the ZOO-Kernel
(read about PHP services at
http://zoo-project.org/docs/services/howtos.html#php)
- MapServer support, compiled into the ZOO-Kernel (read more about
this cool support, such as automatic publishing of WMS/WFS/WCS results,
at http://zoo-project.org/docs/kernel/mapserver.html
You will notice that many other services were not yet built into the
ZOO-Kernel, such as the mono support that you mentioned; I have filed a
ticket for that support (http://www.ms4w.com/trac/ticket/135). If you
search the MS4W tracker for "zoo" you will get a list of the following
tickets:
- Add all GDAL and OGR services to ZOO-Project build
http://www.ms4w.com/trac/ticket/133
- Add Python3 support to ZOO-Project kernel build
http://www.ms4w.com/trac/ticket/128/trac/ticket/128
- Add GDAL profile demo as part of ZOO-Project package
http://www.ms4w.com/trac/ticket/136
Thanks for this early feedback, it's great to build momentum for MS4W +
ZOO-Project! I'll be tackling those tickets for the next MS4W release
(I think that demo ticket will be important to help MS4W users see the
powers of ZOO-Project WPS).
